Development of
Expertise Areas
The CBL-P1 focus lies on the expertise areas C&A (Creativity & Aesthetics) and U&S (User & Society). In the first part of the semester, I learned how to implement creative aspects into the design concepts of the game, while in the second part of the semester, I gained more knowledge and aesthetics through brainstorming and testing ideas for the game’s packaging.

Throughout the project, the whole team was scoping the solution domain, constantly employing ideation methods and techniques to widen and deepen the pool of design ideas. I sought to incorporate beauty and purpose into my designs by exploring different means of manufacturing, such as crocheting, 3D printing, carving and painting wood.

User & Society demanded a deep dive into understanding the life world of our target users.

The focus group played an important role in determining the users’ needs and requirements and where to shift our focus. We generated new ideas for our prototype by meticulously mapping their experiences and integrating insights from the Human-Centered Design core course. My attention shifted to the manufacturing aspects of our physical prototype and refining the tasks that needed to be more engaging since they served as the driving force behind our game.

In the design process, the two expertise areas intertwine, and their connection lies in how the feedback from users influences creative and aesthetic decisions.

One of the additional areas of expertise I've developed is in Business & Entrepreneurship. During the development of our game's packaging, we carefully considered the practicality of our ideas and the logistics of manufacturing within our university's capabilities. For example, we prioritized durability by opting for reusable materials like plexiglass for the box panels that allow easy customization by each team. Moreover, we introduced trading not only to enhance the game’s dynamics but also to avoid duplication waste with the components of the game.
